Vale recently visited the steelmaking division of the Pohang and Gwangyang steel mill to better understand iron ore manufacturing and Posco’s steelmaking process. This was Vale’s sixth visit to Korea since an exchange program was established between the two companies.
Vale is a Brazilian supplier of iron ore to Posco.
The visiting team comprised of three Vale employees: Fabiano Augusto Neiva Dutra (Navigation Dept.), Marcelo Ribeiro Carlos (Energy Dept.), and Bruno Menezes Silva (Port Management Dept.).
The exchange is aimed to promote information sharing between both companies as well as understanding of the steel manufacturing process, strengthening ties between the two companies.
Posco expects to build closer ties with Vale as it recently agreed to join a steel mill construction project in Brazil, which is jointly conducted by Dongkuk Steel and Vale.
