Postech, SK Telecom to Build Mobile Campus

Postech and SK Telecom executives recently signed the Postech Mobile Campus Service Agreement, agreeing to jointly apply mobile technology to learning, administration, and student lifestyles on campus.
 
Based on the agreement, Postech and SK Telecom will jointly develop a groupware that enables Postech faculty and students to access school administration services and real-time learning activities via smartphone, as well as fixed-mobile convergence infrastructure and mobile the Internet environment.
 
The companies will also distribute 5000 smartphones by early next year to Postech faculty and students. The mobile campus is scheduled to be built by November, which includes development of a mobile student ID—enabling access to campus buildings, payment, and status identification—mobile school administration service, and mobile groupware functions.
 
The mobile Internet environment and fixed-mobile convergence service are expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
 
Postech and SK Telecom pledged to further strengthen joint cooperation for mobile programs and other IT development.
