Primetals Technologies Delivers Fourth Continuous Caster to HBIS Tangsteel
03/18/2026 - HBIS Tangsteel has started up a new slab caster, its fourth continuous caster from Primetals Technologies in service at the Tangshan Laoting plant in Hebei Province, China.
The new machine can produce slabs in thicknesses between 200 to 250 mm and widths from 800 to 1,600 mm. HBIS Tangsteel said it now has eight slab caster strands provided by Primetals Technologies. They have a combined production capacity of about 9.6 million metric tons annually.
The companies said the scope of supply included mechanical components, level 1 and level 2 automation systems, and implementation services. It features the DynaFlex hydraulic oscillator and the DynaWidth mold-width adjustment system. It also has the Dynacs 3D secondary cooling model, DynaGap SoftReduction 3D system and Mold Expert.
This is the tenth continuous casting project between HBIS Group and Primetals Technologies.
