The company said the advanced roller guides are designed for rod and bar mills. They address inaccuracies, cobbles and unplanned downtime while improving dimensional accuracy, enabling predictive maintenance and reducing manual measurements. 

To achieve this, the system digitizes and monitors critical guide functions including section height measurement, guide alignment, bearing and roller condition, speed monitoring and impact trend analysis. 

The system has built-in wireless communication to give mill operators remote, hands-free access to continuous section height measurement. Operators can also adjust and monitor guide conditions and performance from a distance, the company said. 

The system can operate either as standalone units or integrate with plantwide digital platforms. It is available in multiple sizes; the guides fit standard mounting saddles without restbar modifications. It features a modular, smart-ready design for phased integration and upgrades and the control module is durable in harsh mill environments. 

Primetals Technologies said the user-friendly interface simplifies setup, training and daily operation.
