Primetals Technologies Presents the EAF Ultimate Move

The company said exchanging the EAF shell toward the teeming bay allows for a reduced layout footprint, simplified maintenance and lower CAPEX for other equipment including cranes, crane-rail support structures and building height requirements. It features a movable support frame that carries the shell and a hydraulic tilting system.

“All types of materials, including blast furnace hot metal, can be processed in any combination in the EAF Ultimate Move, our latest development, which completes our EAF portfolio alongside the EAF Quantum and EAF Ultimate,” said Hans-Joerg Krassnig, head of electric steelmaking at Primetals Technologies.

Other features include single-bucket operation, single-point roof swiveling and furnace advanced slag-free tapping (FAST). FAST allows for tapping and taphole filling when the power is on to shorten tap-to-tap times.
