According to a company press release, an iBox pickling tank — an energy-saving and high-efficiency pickling system — has been installed at Tokyo Steel's Okayama plant as well as a 50-ton tension leveler–type scalebreaker. The iBox pickling tank is the first of its kind to be installed at an electric steel plant, according to Primetals Technologies.

These upgrades will achieve “the same productivity at hot descaling and reduction in energy consumption with both integrated and EAF-based steel plants,” the supplier said.
