Primetals Technologies to Supply Twin Ladle Furnace to Outokumpu Stainless USA
07/14/2026 - Primetals Technologies announced it has agreed to supply a 180-metric-ton twin ladle furnace to Outokumpu Stainless USA’s facility in Calvert, Ala., USA.
The companies said the agreement includes upgrading one of two ladle treatment stands at the facility to the twin ladle furnace. This will increase flexibility since it adds electrical heating capacity after the converter.
The scope of supply includes mechanical equipment, an electrode conducting arm with high-current system, automated argon lancing equipment, a hydraulic system, Melt Expert electrode control system, a power solution and level 1 automation.
