The companies said the project included manufacturing and installing a set of three-phase electrode arms along with commissioning services. They estimate the new electrode arms will increase power output, improve clamping precision and provide longer service life.

The copper-clad electrode arms are designed to withstand harsh conditions. They have a double-layer composite structure and water-cooling system for extra durability. The arm exchange only took six hours from dismantling to commissioning. 

Primetals Technologies said the parts were manufactured at its Changxing workshop. 

Tonggang originally placed its ladle furnace order with Primetals Technologies 20 years ago; now it turned to them again to replace the original machine.
