Primetals Technologies said phase 1 included a new level 2 automation system. In phase 2, they replaced the basic automation hardware with a state-of-the-art solution, moved the software to the newest PCS7 platform and updated the data communication system. They also installed a contour and flatness optimizer, along with the ALEX condition monitoring system.

The companies said over 2,300 items were produced during the final acceptance test, which was over the contractual requirements. The mill was restarted following installation and commissioning.
