PSI to Provide PSImetals System for New ThyssenKrupp Stainless Facility in Alabama
09/03/2008 - PSI will deliver and implement its PSImetals production management system for ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA’s stainless steel plant currently under construction in Alabama.
PSI has been contracted by ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA to deliver and implement its PSImetals production management system for the stainless steel plant currently under construction in Alabama.
The new plant will feature an EAF-based meltshop and a cold rolling mill with finishing line for the production of high-quality stainless steels. In the initial phase, the solution will comprise the functional segments Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) und Advanced Line Sequencing (ALS). In the future, it is intended that the PSImetals system will help to optimize the production processes in both the meltshop and cold rolling mill.
“With the introduction of PSImetals at the Alabama site, ThyssenKrupp Stainless is continuing the proven IT strategy,” explained Klemens Bransmöller, CIO ThyssenKrupp Stainless and ThyssenKrupp Nirosta in Germany. “PSI solutions have been running successfully for more than five years at the steel and cold rolling mills in our German plants. The PSImetals roll-out for the Shanghai Krupp Stainless cold rolling mill in China reinforces the decision to introduce the solution at ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA as well.”
This implementation of PSImetals at ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA’s new Alabama facility follows recent orders from France, Brazil, China, Canada and Russia. With this project, PSI is continuing the growth of its steel software subsidiary PSI BT GmbH.
PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1100 persons in the group. Its PSI BT GmbH subsidiary develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water), cross-company production management (steel, mechanical engineering, automotive, logistics), and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety.
