09/29/2008 - Rautaruukki selects the best ideas received in its international design competition, and will work with authors to evaluate the potential to develop the ideas.
Rautaruukki is to make three commendations for the best ideas received in the international design competition organized in spring 2008.
"Ruukki is strongly committed to the innovative development of new and improved construction components, systems and solutions” said Saku Sipola, President, Ruukki Construction and head of the jury. “The aim of this competition was to intensify the dialogue with architects and designers and to provide them with an opportunity to participate in product development.”
The best entries as selected by Ruukki’s jury were submitted by (in no particular order): Eero Palm, Stanislav Mrots and Martin Traksmann of Palm-E Arhitektibüroo; Estonia, Oü Arhitektuuribüroo Luhse & Tuhal, Estonia; and Arkkitehtitoimisto Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen, Finland.
The jury represented different areas of expertise in the sandwich panel business within Ruukki, and was completed with architect Michiel Cohen from Cepezed in the Netherlands. Ruukki and the authors will work together to study the possibilities of developing the ideas.
“We will continue to seek architectural aspects and ideas to inspire designers and at the same time be efficient to design, manufacture, install and maintain," concluded Sipola.
