Rautaruukki to Enlarge its Corporate Executive Board
10/03/2011 - Ruukki has announced plans to enlarge its Corporate Executive Board in an effort to strengthen its market position by heightening the effectiveness of management decision-making and the implementation of those decisions.

The company noted the accelerating speed of change for today’s business environment has made it important for the company to improve its capability to react by effectively combining experience and expertise in different parts of the business.
The present members of the Corporate Executive Board will remain on the Board after October 1, 2011. This includes Sakari Tamminen, President & CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board; Markku Honkasalo, Chief Financial Officer; Olavi Huhtala, Executive Vice President, Ruukki Metals; Tommi Matomäki, Executive Vice President, Ruukki Construction; and Marko Somerma, Executive Vice President, Ruukki Engineering. Effective from October 1, 2011, Somerma will also assume responsibility for corporate strategic planning.
Beginning October 1, Mikko Hietanen, Executive Vice President, Business Development, will assume responsibility for risk management and for business development projects, reporting to President & CEO Sakari Tamminen.
The company’s Corporate Executive Board also will be enlarged with the addition of the following four new members:
Eija Hakakari MSc (Educ), 50, serves as Senior Vice President, Human Resources. She joined Ruukki in 2008 and has a strong track record in organizational development, HR development and HR management in an international business environment.
Toni Hemminki MSc (Tech), 36, is Senior Vice President, Technology, Energy and Environment at Ruukki and joined the company in 2001. A distinguished international expert in his field, his ability has been widely used also outside Ruukki.
Taina Kyllönen MSc (Econ), 44, is Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications as of October 1, 2011. She has in-depth expertise in international marketing, brand-building, communications and investor relations. Kyllönen joined Ruukki as Vice President, Corporate Communications in 2004 and has served as Senior Vice President, Marketing at Ruukki since 2007.
Ismo Platan BSc (IT), 57, is Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management, IT and Operational Excellence (OPEX). He joined Ruukki in 2003 and is a long-line expert in IT and international operational process development.
As of October 1, 2011, Ruukki’s Corporate Executive Board comprises the following members. The new Corporate Executive Board replaces the existing Corporate Executive Board and Extended Executive Board.

Olli Huuskonen LLM, 50, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, acts as secretary to the Corporate Executive Board and, effective from November 1, 2011, as secretary to the Board of Directors.
