Red Bud Debuts Coil Debanding Robot
09/22/2025 - Red Bud Industries is now offering a fully automatic coil debanding robot, as revealed at Fabtech 2025.
The company said removing bands from coils could put personnel in potentially hazardous areas and once cut, the bands must be manually picked up and placed in a scrap bin.
Red Bud’s new coil debander automatically detects and cuts both O.D. and I.D. bands. The bands are then automatically fed into a band winder or optional chopper once cut. With the ability to detect the leading edge of the strip, the robotic debander can be automatically positioned under the coil.
To further automate downstream functions, the unit can be used to automatically measure the coil’s width and outer diameter, the company said.
