Recycled Zinc Alloy Clears Product Trials
04/21/2021 - Mill byproducts recycler American Zinc Recycling (AZR) has successfully trialed a zinc alloy suitable for use in continuous galvanizing lines, the company reports.
In a statement, American Zinc said its American Zinc Products (AZP) business completed two industrial-scale trials of its zinc-aluminum alloy, which is seeing favorable market acceptance. That, the company said, has cleared the way for the installation of a permanent continuous galvanizing–grade zinc production line.
“We continue to be pleased with the progress being made at AZP, as we continue our ramp-up 13 months after start-up. We have now achieved another milestone for the operation, as we now have the capability to produce both specialty high-grade and continuous galvanizing–grade zinc,” said American Zinc Recycling chief executive Joel Hawthorne.
“AZR continues to provide a mission-critical service to our electric arc furnace customers by recycling in an environmentally friendly way a hazardous material generated in their process and returning a highly valuable end product to those same customers,” he added.
