Renault Approves Hot-Rolled Galvanized Steel from Magnitogorsk
06/16/2011 - Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works has successfully passed a technical audit recently administered by Renault S.A.
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has successfully passed a technical audit recently administered by Renault S.A.
The French carmaker’s approval means that MMK can now ship its hot-rolled galvanized steel designed for inner parts of Renault automobiles.
In the past few years MMK has successfully implemented a rolled steel products acceptation program that specifically targets Russian and international carmakers. This program includes getting approvals for MMK technologies and products from leading international carmakers and home appliances manufacturers.
Production of corresponding steel types is monitored by the MMK Central Control Laboratory. At the moment MMK is rolling test lots of steel for such companies as LG Corp and Ford Motor Co. In the meantime, additional samples will be sent for approval by international automakers (including General Motors, Volkswagen and Matador) and home appliances companies (such as Samsung, Bosch, Bosch und Siemens, etc.).
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), one of the leaders of Russia's steel industry, is also among the world's largest steel producers. The company's operations in Russia include a large steel producing complex encompassing the entire production chain, from preparation of iron ore to downstream processing of rolled steel. MMK turns out a broad range of steel products with a predominant share of higher value added products. MMK realizes MMK-Atakas project in Turkey with annual capacity of 2.3 million tonnes of flat steel. In 2010 MMK Group produced 11.4 million tonnes of crude steel and 10.4 million tonnes of commercial steel products.
