Report: Justice Department to Further Scrutinize Nippon Steel-U. S. Steel Deal
04/11/2024 - The U.S. Justice Department has initiated an in-depth antitrust investigation of Nippon Steel’s planned acquisition of United States Steel Corporation, according to a report in Politico.
Citing two unnamed sources, Politico said the investigation is focused in part on Nippon Steel’s joint ownership of AM/NS Calvert in Alabama. That plant competes directly with U. S. Steel, Politico said.
