Russula to Provide Electrics, Control for Aceros Alfa Bar Mill Upgrade
10/30/2008 - Aceros Alfa selects Russula as their electrical and control supplier for a major expansion of its existing bar mill in Honduras.
Aceros Alfa, SA recently selected Russula as their electrical and control supplier for a major expansion of its existing bar mill. The upgrade will be Russula’s first major project in Honduras.
Russula will supply each of the 12 new mill stands with a new DC drive (ABB type DCS800) and upgrade the existing auxiliary drives to modern standards. Russula will also provide a new control system employing Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs and Wonderware HMIs, as well as two new control desks.
The Russula control system will provide the bar mill with cascade speed control, automatic low tension and loop control, tracking and automatic cobble detection, as well as control of three hot shears, one cold shear and the bundler. High speed data acquisition and remote service support will be provided by an IBA system that Russula will supply.
Russula will also provide training, installation advisement, commissioning and spare parts. Installation and start-up are scheduled for the first quarter of 2009.
