Ruukki Maintains Spot in Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

Ruukki continues to be listed in two Dow Jones Sustainability indexes: DJSI World and DJSI Europe. The indexes include the top companies committed to sustainable development.

Ruukki is included in the DJSI World Index for the third year in a row and in the European index for the fourth year. The results show that the company ranks among the world's eight best steel companies.

Three hundred and eighteen companies from 28 different countries are included in the DJSI World Index, and 174 companies from 14 European countries in the DJSI Europe Index. Ruukki notes that seven other Finnish companies are in the Sustainability Indexes.

"Our inclusion in these indexes for a number of consecutive years indicates that we have been doing the right things to promote corporate responsibility,” said Toni Hemminki, Vice President, Energy and Environment, from Ruukki. “Our strategic focus areas are especially to improve safety at work and the energy efficiency of our products. In addition, for example, we have also carried out extensive investments at our Raahe Works in Finland to benefit the environment. Recent years have seen a clearly growing interest in corporate responsibility also among investors."

Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes have been measuring efforts within the corporate sector to improve sustainability since 1999. Corporate sustainability performance is analyzed each year by an independent assessment party, SAM Research AG. Analysis evaluates corporate, financial, social, and environmental responsibility. Index companies are also subject to continuous tracking.
