Ruukki has been chosen as the steel structure contractor for an extensive production facility for Swedish company Sandvik Materials Technology. Ruukki will deliver the frame and envelope structures, including on-site installation, for a 12,000-m2, 300-meter-long production facility.
The contract encompasses the design, including fabrication drawings, for the roof trusses and envelope structures.
"Our design expertise covers all the stages of steel structure design from optimizing spans to optimizing truss spacing using different structural solutions. We can choose the most efficient, best overall value option for our customers already at the bidding stage. At the installation stage, we are responsible for ensuring that all the structures are correctly and safely installed on time," said Sami Eronen SVP, Infrastructure and Northern Europe, Ruukki Construction.
The structures for Sandvik's new facility will be manufactured at Ruukki's plants in Ylivieska, Peräseinäjoki, and Alajärvi in Finland; at Oborniki, Poland; and at Anderslöv, Sweden.
Ruukki's work on the project is scheduled for May to October; the facility is planned to begin operation in 2012.
