Ruukki Supports University Activities

Ruukki is supporting the activities of Finnish universities by donating EUR 900,000 to Aalto University, Tampere University of Technology, and Lappeenranta University of Technology. The new Aalto University will receive EUR 750,000 of the donation.

“We consider it very important for Finnish universities to maintain top-level research and teaching with regard to ensuring the future of our field and national competitiveness,” said Markku Koljonen, Chief Technology Officer at Ruukki. “We wanted to particularly support the recently established Aalto University, which is engaged in close, multidisciplinary cooperation with commerce and industry. The technical universities of Tampere and Lappeenranta and, for example, the University of Oulu, have an important role in developing competence in their own specialist fields.”

Ruukki previously made direct donations in 2008, when the beneficiaries were the University of Oulu and Helsinki University of Technology, which is now part of Aalto University.
