Ruukki to Supply Components for Oil Storage Tanks

Ruukki will deliver its prefabricated steel storage tank components to Verwater Groep Nederland to build seven new oil storage tanks in the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Three of the storage tanks to be built will have a volume of 120,000 m3 and be over 83 meters in diameter. The other four tanks will have a volume of 40,000 m3 and a diameter of 42 meters.

The ready-to-install steel plates will be made and prefabricated at Ruukki's Raahe Steel Works in Finland and be shipped directly to the Port of Rotterdam. Ruukki's deliveries are expected to be complete in August.

"The oil storage tanks are being built to an extremely tight schedule. It's important for us to receive deliveries on time and to work with a partner capable of managing comprehensive deliveries. Ruukki's delivery accuracy will also affect oil transport logistics," project managers Robin Jongen and Maikel Segers from Verwater Groep Nederland said.

Ruukki has previously delivered similar storage tank components to Russia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada, and the UK. It notes that the Port of Rotterdam is one of the busiest in the world.
