SAIL Lights New Blast Furnace, and Another Comes Down for Repair
02/14/2018 - The Steel Authority of India Ltd. has blown in a new blast furnace at its Bhilai Steel Plant, reports The (India) Economic Times.
According to The Times, the No. 8 furnace will lift the plant's hot metal capacity to 7.5 million metric tons annually.
Separately, The Times reported that the plant has shut down the No. 1 blast furnace after a crack developed in the hearth, allowing hot metal to leak out.
