SAIL Taps Danieli for New Cooling System
07/30/2025 - Danieli will provide its new Exstream II accelerated cooling system to Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) to upgrade its plate mill in Bhilai, India.
Danieli said the Exstream II has medium-pressure water headers controlled by a Danieli Automation cooling model. Engineered to optimize the cooling process for steel products, it offers improved metallurgical properties, reduced alloy use and better energy efficiency.
The technology avoids additional off-line thermal treatment processes that require reheating after the rolling process. It also optimizes the utilization of resources for a more sustainable steel production process.
The company said the purpose of the upgrade is to enhance operational efficiency and expand the product range of the grades produced to meet growing demand.
Exstream II is estimated to be in full operation by the end of 2026, Danieli said.
