SAIL Turns to Danieli For IISCO Plant Expansion
12/19/2025 - Danieli announced it will supply key technologies for the Steel Authority of India Ltd.’s (SAIL)’s IISCO Steel Plant expansion in Burnpur, West Bengal.
The companies said the project will include a new blast furnace, three slab continuous casting machines and a hot-strip mill for coil production serving the automotive and durable goods sectors.
The slab casters have the capability to produce slabs up to 250 mm thick and 2,100 mm wide. It can produce coils ranging from 1.2 to 25.4 mm in thickness.
SAIL estimates the expansion will add 4 million metric tons of steelmaking capacity annually.
The announcement was made during the Italy-India Business Forum in Mumbai, attended by various officials from both regions.
