Salzgitter AG Appoints New CFO
09/11/2026 - Salzgitter AG announced Christoph Martin will succeed Birgit Potrafki as its chief financial officer (CFO), effective 1 October 2026.
“He draws on many years of experience in various leadership roles in the areas of controlling and finance and will continue the responsible financial strategy that Salzgitter AG has pursued in recent years,” said Ulrike Brouzi, chair of the supervisory board of Salzgitter AG.
Martin is a member of the management board of Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel GmbH and Salzgitter Mannesmann International GmbH since January 2025. He began as a trainee in production controlling for the metallurgy division at thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG, holding both controlling and finance positions.
Martin studied economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen and earned a master of laws from the JurGrad School of Tax and Business Law at the University of Münster.
Potrafki’s contract expires on 31 January 2027; she will ensure a smooth transition of her tasks to Martin. She joined Salzgitter AG as a member of the management board in February 2024, implementing the P28 earnings improvement program and the company’s inclusion in the MDAX stock index.
“Birgit Potrafki supported our company during a crucial transformation phase with great dedication, outstanding professional expertise, and exceptional reliability. With her strategic foresight and her ability to execute operationally, she has played a key role in shaping the company's continued development,” continued Brouzi.
