Salzgitter Deploys New Volume Measurement System
11/17/2016 - Germany’s Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH has installed a laser measuring system at its coke bunker, the company that supplied the technology has announced.
In a statement, LASE Industrielle Lasertechnik GmbH said the system uses two 2D laser scanners mounted on a new ship unloader to measure the piles in the bunker's eight bins. The system then converts the measurements into a highly accurate three-dimensional volume model.
“The system can be operated intuitively due to user-oriented dialogue control and configuration wizards for simple commissioning. The application has a high versatility and can be used for volume and profile measurements in several bunker plant types,” the company said in a statement.
