Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH to Deliver Green Steel

This green steel is used for ventilation projects such as air ducting systems and profiled construction projects such as roof and façade cladding, the companies said.

“Our ambition is to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the whole value chain by 2050 and we see Salzgitter as a contributing partner on our journey,” said Thommy Psajd, sourcing director at Lindab Steel AB.

The Salzgitter Group is currently in the process of the SALCOS®  (Salzgitter Low-CO2 Steelmaking) transformation program. Aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2033, they have been converting their steel production to hydrogen-based processes by replacing their blast furnaces with EAFs and direct reduction. They can already provide low-carbon steel using the Peiner route.

“Interest in this climate-friendly steel among our customers and partners continues to grow, and we are pleased to be able to support them in the green transformation of their products,” said Phillip Meiser, sales director at Salzgitter Flachstahl.
