05/29/2026 - Salzgitter AG announced its subsidiary Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH has unveiled its new training and communication center available to industrial mechanics and other apprenticeships.
The company said the center, located in the Harz region of Germany, will offer up to 12 places each year for industrial mechanics, with other apprenticeships available as well. The building will be put into operation incrementally to benefit current trainees.
“With this investment, we are making an important contribution to future viability and taking responsibility for securing skilled professionals in the Harz region. After all, well-trained specialists are the foundation for successfully mastering key challenges such as the energy transition and industrial transformation,” said Beatrice Fiege, managing director of human resources at Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH.
The goal of the center is to generate more qualified specialists in the Harz region. Some forms of learning which have been introduced include digital training courses and IT training with a focus on practice-oriented training.
"The new center is an example of the industry's shift towards greater digitalization and modern qualifications, serving as a key building block in preparing young people as effectively as possible for the demands of tomorrow,” said Birgit Dietze, head of human resources at Salzgitter AG.
