Sandmeyer Steel Co.’s Vice President of Sales Retires

John Curley III joined Industrial in 1976, going on to work in the steel industry for 50 years. He spent 41 years with Sandmeyer, leaving Industrial to be the company’s first district sales manager in the New England territory. He was promoted in 1993 to manager of inside sales and relocated to Philadelphia. He was named vice president of international sales in 2011, devoted to customers and sales outside the U.S. From 2023 until his retirement, he served as vice president of sales both within and outside the U.S. 

“John’s relationships, industry knowledge, and dedication to our customers have made a lasting impact on Sandmeyer Steel Co. We are grateful for his many contributions over the past four decades and wish him the very best in retirement,” said Ron Sandmeyer, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Sandmeyer Steel Co. 

Curley III’s grandfather, John Curley, Sr., began working for Jessop Steel Co. in 1910, eventually going on to found Industrial Service Centers in Cambridge, Mass., USA. He then acquired a steel mill in Baltimore which eventually became Eastern Stainless. 

Curley III’s father, John Curley, Jr., worked at Industrial for 10 years, beginning in 1953. He went on to serve as president of Eastern Stainless for 14 years until his retirement in 1977.
