Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) is seeking to pump US$231 million into improvements to its Heartland operations in Terre Haute, Ind., USA, reports the Tribune-Star newspaper.

According to the Tribune-Star, SDI has filed a 10-year tax abatement request with the Vigo County Council for the 390,000-square-foot expansion. The proposal will receive a preliminary council vote next week.

SDI reportedly plans to invest US$34.65 million in new equipment for the facility, including a new galvanizing and paint line, water treatment equipment, a rail and scrapyard, and other material handling and processing equipment, the Tribune-Star said.
