Siemens-Led Consortium to Supply Anneal-Pickle Line to Tiancheng Stainless

A consortium led by Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Tiancheng Stainless Steel Products Co., Ltd. (TCSS), a Chinese high-grade steel producer, to supply an annealing and pickling line for its Guanghan Works in the Sichuan Province. The plant will have an annual capacity of 240,000 tonnes of cold strip, and is scheduled to come into production at the end of 2013.

Siemens VAI Metals Technologies SAS, Savigneux, France, will be responsible for the project management and supervising the installation and commissioning. The scope of delivery for Siemens includes a two-high skin-pass mill including installations to bend the work rolls, a roll polishing system, the mandrels for the coiler and the uncoilers, and a strip degreasing unit.

Siemens Ltd. China with its local partner will be responsible for supplying some of the mechanical and electrical equipment. The annealing furnace and the pickling section will be supplied by European consortium partners. The integrated automation of the entire line will be based on Siroll PL, a solution concept developed by Siemens specifically for strip processing lines.

On the annealing and pickling line, TCSS will be able to produce around 240,000 tonnes of cold strip in widths ranging from 800 to 1300 mm and thicknesses from 0.3 to 3 mm.

Tiancheng Stainless Steel Products Co., Ltd. (TCSS) is part of the Chinese Sichuan Jinguang Group, an integrated metals corporation specializing in the exploration and mining of nickel, chromium, and manganese, as well as the production of high-grade steel. At the end of 2010, Siemens had previously received an order to supply a turn-key AOD converter from Yunnan Tiangao Nickel Industry Co., Ltd., another subsidiary of the Sichuan Jinguang Group.
