Ural Steel AG (previously Nosta) at Novotroitsk, Russia, has placed an order with SMS Demag, Germany, for a process computer system for the single-strand slab caster successfully commissioned in October.

SMS Demag’s scope of supply will include the complete hardware and software for process and material tracking as well as functions for optimizing the casting process.

Commissioning of the process computer system is scheduled to be performed simultaneously with commissioning of the electric arc furnace automation system in March 2006. The furnace will also be supplied by SMS Demag.

SMS Demag AG forms part of the Metallurgical Plant and Rolling Mill Technology Business Area of the SMS group. The SMS group is internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering relating to the processing of steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
