SMS group Completes Commissioning of TZCO Chain Manufacturing’s New Closed-Die Forge Press
06/01/2026 - SMS group announced it has received the final acceptance certificate from TZCO Chain Manufacturing for its new fully automatic MP 3150 eccentric closed-die forging press at its new forging shop in Jinzhong City, China.
The companies said the scope included the MP 3150 closed-die forging press, full line engineering and a digitalization package. The press has a press force of about 3,150 metric tons and can achieve up to 30 strokes per minute. It has a cycle time target of up to 4 seconds per piece.
“The press enables TZCO to expand its excavator business by producing track links in a new forging shop. Thanks to the high accuracy and minimal flash of the forging process, we achieve material savings and lower production costs,” said the leader of TZCO Chain company.
Automation equipment includes an automatic walking beam transfer system, startup and deceleration ramps with sensor technology, automatic die lubrication and spray units, a quick-change die holder and a duplex bolster changing car, the company said.
SMS group said it also integrated parts of its digitalization package into the existing process control system. Production and energy key performance indicators are streamed to a dashboard to give the customer process data.
