SMS group Completes Modernization of Aubert & Duval’s Radial Forging Machine
10/22/2026 - SMS group announced it has completed modernizing the electrical control system and hydraulic system of Aubert & Duval’s radial forging machine at its Les Ancizes site in France.
The companies said the scope included plant engineering, electrical systems and automation, digitalization, ancillary equipment and service. The entire electrical control system was upgraded including power and control cabinets, switchgear, cabling, operator panels and visualization.
Another feature includes integration of the ComForge® Forging Technology Suite. SMS group also modified the hydraulic system to include new valves, hydraulic safety manifolds and other functions for better usability.
“Completing this modernization on schedule while maintaining Aubert & Duval’s qualified production parameters was a major achievement for everyone involved,” said Pascal Pelka, head of service for hydraulic presses service solutions at SMS group.
SMS group said the project was completed within the 18-week construction period. Aubert & Duval required the production-relevant parameters to remain the same as the previous system to comply with its product qualifications.
