SMS group Completes Modernization of Mukand’s Bloom Caster
05/19/2026 - SMS group announced it has successfully completed the modernization of Mukand Ltd.’s 2-strand SMS Concast bloom caster at its Kalwa facility in Thane, India.
The companies said the upgrade introduced new casting section capabilities to produce stainless steel rebar and wire rods including new 250 x 300 mm bloom sections for the bar mill. This expanded Mukand’s product range and allowed it to enter new markets.
SMS group said it delivered upgrades covering supply, installation and commissioning of technologies including an air mist cooling system and a withdrawal and straightening unit with an AC drive.
