The company said the modernization will enhance its production capabilities, expand its product portfolio and meet the growing demand for special bar quality products across the global market. To meet increasing demand from construction industry customers, the upgrade focuses on enabling production of new sections 180 SQ and 200 SQ. 

SMS group said the supply will include section-related mechanical components, a CONSTIR-MEMS stirrer and CONFLOW stopper control boxes with automation systems. 

The CONSTIR mold stirrer is an electromagnetic stirring system which improves the homogeneity of the molten steel during solidification, reducing defects and resulting in less rejections and higher yield. The CONFLOW stopper control allows for precise control of the steel flow into the mold to ensure consistent casting speeds and reduce variations in billet dimensions. The automation package features advanced automation systems for real-time monitoring and control to reduce human error and ensure consistent quality of the products. 

The company estimates the upgraded Concast billet caster will go into operation by the end of 2025.
