SSAB Breaks Ground on New Quenching Line
10/13/2026 - SSAB announced it has begun construction of its new SEK 3.3 billion quenching line in Oxelösund, Sweden.
The company said the upgrade will expand capacity for its advanced high-strength wear and protection steels. Quenching is essential for SSAB products including Hardox® and Armox®. The new line will add about 100,000 metric tons annually of these advanced steels.
“With the new quenching line, and by investing in modern electrified technology, we are taking yet another important step in expanding our production system and growing our offering of advanced steels to help our customers meet demanding requirements for performance, durability and protection,” said Johnny Sjöström, president and chief executive officer of SSAB.
Production is planned to start in 2030, the company said.
