The steel solution was designed to resist degradation instances including high- or low-pH environments along with abrasion and impacts. Acids, sulfates, ammonia and salts can oxidize surfaces, speeding up wear rates and reducing service life. Hardox HiAce has the hardness needed for abrasion resistance and holds structural integrity in these harsh environments, the company said. 

The company conducted a variety of tests with Hardox HiAce. This included comparing it to stainless steel, corrosive wear tests, using it on a garbage truck compared to stainless steel S304 and testing it in temperatures up to 752°F.
