Stalatube Oy Installs New Cutting Line as Part of 7 Million Euro Investment

Stalatube Oy has invested more than 7 million euros in machinery and the current production areas in Lahti, Finland, over the past couple years. The recent installation of a new cutting line was the key milestone of the project, according to the company. Full production speed will be reached this month.

The project consists of a cutting line for stainless steel coils, its production hall, a storage hall for coils used as raw material, and a high-rise storehouse for manufactured tubes. Stalatube Oy also invested in improvements to the tube manufacturing process.

“With these investments we are preparing ourselves for the upcoming boom, for better times are approaching. Our goal is to shorten the delivery cycle substantially and to increase our flexibility towards the customer. At the same time our delivery reliability increases as our dependency on raw material lead time decreases,” said Jukka Nummi, the company’s President and CEO, adding that the investment was made in Finland because “Europe is our main market and this will remain so in future. We don’t need to go far to find skillful raw material providers.”

Stalatube Oy also recently announced that it had acquired Outokumpu’s square and rectangular hollow section production unit in Pietarsaari. This fall, production along with eight employees will be moved to Stalatube's recently extended premises in Lahti. The company says that this acquisition will immediately increase the efficiency of the investments.
