Steel Asia’s New High-Speed Bar Mill Uses Danieli Techology
07/25/2025 - Danieli announced its technology has achieved good efficiency and quality in rebar production at Steel Asia’s new high-speed bar mill in Compostela, Philippines.
The company said the machine produces low- and medium-carbon deformed bars ranging from 10 to 50 mm at a capacity of 800,000 metric tons annually. It features 16 housingless stands with two convertible stands for larger diameters and two four-pass finishing blocks. The finishing blocks are designed for future installation of two additional passes for 8 mm products. The two-strand rolling allows for 10-, 12- and 16 mm deformed bars.
Danieli installed a QTB-Quench tempering bar system, a double high-speed twin channel and a 90 m cooling bed after the rolling stands. Cold cutting-to-length, automatic bar counting, and bundle forming, typing and collecting services were customized for the Philippine market to accommodate light sub-bundles weighing less than 50 kg.
Danieli Automation L1 and L2 equipment automation and their process control system run the mill.
