Steel Dynamics Inc. Announces Leadership Changes
08/04/2026 - Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) announced Theresa Wagler has been approved to become its new president and chief executive officer as Mark Millett retires from chief executive officer and transitions to executive chairman of the board of directors, among other leadership changes.
Wagler has been with the company for 28 years and served as executive vice president, corporate secretary and chief financial officer since 2007.
“[Wagler] is disciplined, strategic, and a highly respected leader with a deep understanding of Steel Dynamics’ culture, strategy and businesses. This appointment reflects our confidence in her ability to lead the company forward into its next chapter of growth and value creation for our teams, customers and shareholders,” said Kenneth Cornew, lead independent director for SDI.
Other appointments effective 1 September include Barry Schneider to executive vice president and chief technology officer; Miguel Alvarez to executive vice president and chief operating officer of aluminum flat-rolled products and metals recycling operations; James Anderson to executive vice president and chief operating officer construction products operations; and Christopher Graham to executive vice president and chief operating officer of flat-rolled steel operations.
Richard Pointsatte will succeed Wagler as SDI’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective 1 January 2027.
