Steel Manufacturers Association: Eight Officers Elected to Executive Committee
02/03/2026 - The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) announced its board of directors has elected eight officers to the 2026–2028 executive committee, including Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI)’s Barry Schneider as its chair.
"Barry Schneider and his fellow members on the 2026–2028 SMA Executive Committee are exemplary steel industry executives who will lead the Steel Manufacturers Association to new heights,” said Philip Bell, president and chief executive officer of SMA.
SMA said its plan focuses on government affairs, public relations and data aggregation.
“I am proud to follow in the footsteps of SDI leaders like Keith Busse, Mark Millett and Dick Teets as chairman of the Steel Manufacturers Association. Steel is essential to our national security, energy independence and critical infrastructure. The mission of the SMA is more important than ever,” said Schneider. Schneider currently serves as president and chief operations officer of Steel Dynamics Inc. and is a past president of AIST.
