14 September 2012 - The Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA) has released statistical data on imports, U.S. consumption, and import penetration for the first six months of 2012.

05 September 2012 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that steel import permit applications for the month of August totaled 2,591,000 tons - an 8% decrease from the 2,824,000 permit tons recorded in July, but only a 0.3% increase from the July preliminary imports
Preliminary July Data Show Large U.S. Import Increases Continuing
21 August 2012 - Based on preliminary Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,582,000 tons of steel in July, including 2,028,000 tons of finished steel (down 8% each, respectively, from June final data).
U.S. Commission Votes Not to Sunset Import Duties on German Pipe
21 August 2012 - In the final results of a five-year sunset review, the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty order on certain seamless carbon and alloy steel standard, line, and pressure pipe from Germany would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.

13 August 2012 - The Canada Border Services Agency made preliminary determinations of dumping and subsidization of carbon steel welded pipe from several countries including Chinese Taipei, India, Oman, Korea, Thailand, Turkey and the UAE.
AIIS: U.S. Steel Exports Fell in June; Concern about Direction of International Markets
13 August 2012 - U.S. steel exports declined 7.2% in June 2012 compared to May 2012, according to government data analyzed by the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).
July Data Indicate Large U.S. Import Increases Continuing in Certain Key Products
02 August 2012 - The American Iron and Steel Institute reported that steel import permit applications for the month of July totaled 2,627,000 tons - an 8% decrease from the 2,855,000 permit tons recorded in June, but a 1% increase from the June preliminary imports total of 2,593,000 tons.
Imports Fall in June on Softening Demand in U.S. Market
25 July 2012 - Total steel imports in June 2012 were 2.592 million tons, according to preliminary data from the U.S. government, compared to 3.064 million tons in May 2012, a 15.4% decrease, and a 4.2% decrease compared to June 2011.

13 July 2012 - India has asked the World Trade Organization to set up a panel to adjudicate on its dispute with the United States over U.S. duties on some imports of Indian steel products, the WTO said on Friday.

06 July 2012 - The American Iron and Steel Institute reported steel import permit applications for the month of June totaled 2,796,000 tons - a 5% decline from May import levels.
U.S. Steel Imports Dropped 6% in May
27 June 2012 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,945,000 tons of steel in May, including 2,323,000 tons of finished steel (down 6% each, respectively, from April final data). The 2.3 million tons of finished steel imports in May was the second highest monthly total in 2012, below only the April tonnage.
