Preliminary Steel Imports Increase 3% in April
27 May 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,535,000 net tons of steel in April, up 3% from March final data according to the latest report from AISI.
Stainless Imports through February More than 50% Higher than YTD 2010
18 May 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 126,885 tons in YTD February 2011, a 51.4% increase compared to YTD February 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) over the same period were 166,205 tons, a 56.1% increase.
Steel Import Permits up 7% in April
05 May 2011 - Steel import permit applications reached 2,626,000 net tons for the month of April, a 7% increase from the 2,455,000 permit tons recorded in March according to the latest report from AISI.
Preliminary Steel Imports Rebound 33% in March
28 April 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,446,000 net tons of steel in March, up 33% from February final data according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports increased 29% over the same period.
Steel Import Permits Up 24% in March
07 April 2011 - Steel import applications reached a total of 2,378,000 net tons for the month of March, a 24% increase from the 1,914,000 permit tons recorded in February according to the latest report from AISI.
Stainless, Specialty Imports Finish 2010 Nearly 70% Above 2009
25 March 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 662,695 tons in YTD December 2010, a 69.6% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period, according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports reached 842,055 tons through the same period, a 70.4% increase compared to last year.

23 March 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 1,777,000 net tons of steel in February, down 16% from January final data according to the latest report from AISI.
Stainless, Specialty Imports Continue to Climb through YTD November 2010
04 March 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 598,182 tons in YTD November 2010, a 71.7% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period, according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports reached 763,015 tons through the same period, a 72.5% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period.

Finished Steel Imports Rise by 8% in January
24 February 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,048,000 net tons of steel in January, up 10% from December final data according to the latest report from AISI.
Total, Finished Steel Import Permits Up 8.6%, 11% in January
03 February 2011 - Steel import permit applications reached a total of 2,011,000 net tons for the month of January, an 8.6% increase from the 1,852,000 permit tons recorded in December according to the latest report from AISI.
Preliminary 2010 Steel Imports up 47% vs. 2009
26 January 2011 - The U.S. imported a total 1,811,000 net tons of steel in December, up 1% from November final data, according to the latest report from AISI. The total included 1,445,000 net tons of finished steel, down 3% from November final data.
YTD Stainless, Specialty Imports Holding Steady through October
24 January 2011 - Total stainless steel imports reached 532,053tons in YTD October 2010, a 72.3% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel reached 677,843tons through the same period, a 71.2% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period.

30 December 2010 - The U.S. imported a total of 1,784,000 net tons of steel in November, down 5% from October final data according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were down 6% over the same period.

15 December 2010 - Total stainless steel imports reached 463,783 tons in YTD September 2010, a 72.6% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel — stainless, alloy tool and electrical steel — reached 593,200 tons through the same period, a 69.9% increase.

YTD Specialty Steel Imports up More than 75% through August
19 November 2010 - Total stainless steel imports reached 414,880 tons in YTD August 2010, a 76.6% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel reached 527,245 tons through the same period, up 71.1%.

04 November 2010 - Steel import permit applications reached a total of 1,812,000 net tons for the month of October, a 13% decrease from the 2,075,000 permit tons recorded in September, according to the latest report from AISI.
