15 July 2010 - The UnLock Our Jobs coalition announced several new members, including U.S. Steel Corp., Ports of Indiana, and American Agriculture Movement. The coalition works toward a comprehensive solution to stop the spread of Asian Carp, while leaving the Chicago locks open to commerce.

USW Members Ratify Contract Extension for AK Ashland Works
12 July 2010 - Members of USW Local 1865 union ratify a three-year extension to the labor agreement covering production and maintenance employees at AK Steel's Ashland Works. The extension contains new language that increases the company’s operating flexibility as well as a wage increase for covered employees and lump sum payments over the next three years.
AK Steel Researcher Named ASM International Fellow
09 July 2010 - AK Steel’s Jerry L. Arnold, a Principal Research Engineer at the company’s Research Center, has been elected a Fellow of the Society by ASM International in recognition of his “distinguished contributions in the field of materials science and engineering”.

Gerdau, Gerdau Ameristeel Enter Arrangement Agreement
06 July 2010 - Gerdau Ameristeel and Gerdau SA enter into a definitive arrangement agreement to implement their proposal to take Gerdau Ameristeel private at a price of US$11.00 cash per Common Share. If approved by shareholders, the transaction is expected to be completed in August 2010.
Nucor’s Parrish to Retire; Darsey Promoted
02 July 2010 - Nucor Corp. Executive Vice President of Bar Products D. Michael Parrish plans to retire at the end of August after 35 years of service with Nucor. Effective September 1, James R. Darsey will be promoted to the position.
Timken Teams with Habitat for Humanity to Build LEED-Certified Home
02 July 2010 - A team of volunteers from The Timken Co. will construct Habitat of Greater Stark and Carroll Counties’ first-ever LEED-certified home in Canton, Ohio. The group will begin construction in July on the new home.
AK Steel Announces August 2010 Surcharges
02 July 2010 - AK Steel says it will add a $385 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in August 2010.
Schnitzer Steel Reports Highest Earnings since Q4 FY08
01 July 2010 - Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. reported diluted earnings per share from continuing operations of $1.43 for its fiscal 2010 third quarter ended May 31, 2010. This compares with a loss per share from continuing operations of ($0.01) for the same quarter of fiscal 2009.
Worthington Reports Q4 and Fiscal Year Results
30 June 2010 - Worthington Industries reported net sales of $626.4 million and net earnings of $33.1 million, or $0.42 per share, for the fiscal 2010 fourth quarter ended May 31, 2010. For the fiscal year ended May 31, the company posted net earnings of $45.2 million, or $0.57 per share.

Commercial Metals Reports 3rd Quarter Loss
23 June 2010 - Commercial Metals Co. reported a net loss of $8.8 million, or $0.08 per diluted share, on net sales of $1.8 billion for the quarter ended May 31, 2010. This compares with a net loss of $13.1 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, on net sales of $1.3 billion for the same period last year.
ATI Selects Siemens VAI for New Advanced Integrated Hot-Rolling Mill
22 June 2010 - Allegheny Technologies Inc. has selected Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to design, engineer, and supply the hot-rolling mill for ATI Allegheny Ludlum’s Brackenridge, Pa., new advanced specialty metals hot-rolling and processing facility, which is expected to be completed in about four years.
ATI Announces President for ATI Metalworking; New Surcharge for Grain Oriented Steels
21 June 2010 - Allegheny Technologies Inc. recently named Robert S. Wetherbee as Business Unit President of ATI Metalworking Products. The company also announced the addition of a $469 per ton ($23.45/cwt) surcharge for grain oriented steels for shipments beginning August 1, 2010.
Essar Steel Algoma Granted Injunction for Pellet Delivery
18 June 2010 - Essar Steel Algoma has been granted an injunction against Cleveland Cliffs that will force Cliffs to continue delivering pellets to Essar, pending resolution of a pricing dispute between the parties.

18 June 2010 - United States Steel names Gerald W. Gagliano as General Manager—Logistics Services, with responsibility for overseeing all outbound rail, barge and truck operations at all domestic U. S. Steel facilities.
Steel Dynamics Announces Second Quarter Earnings Guidance
17 June 2010 - Steel Dynamics, Inc. announced that it expects to report earnings of $0.20 to $0.25 per diluted share for the second quarter. Anticipated results reflect lower flat-rolled volumes and margins vs. the previous quarter, as well as the impact of both planned and unplanned outages.
