12 May 2010 - Acciaieria Arvedi SpA has issued the Final Acceptance Certificate to Siemens VAI for its new Arvedi ESP line in Cremona, which has successfully cast 80-mm thin strands at speeds in excess of six meters per minute and endlessly rolled hot strip down to a thickness of 0.8 mm.

OSHA Proposes Fines against Tonawanda Coke for Serious Violations

10 May 2010 - The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed a total of $48,500 in fines against Tonawanda Coke Corp. for 14 alleged serious violations of workplace health and safety standards at the company's River Road plant in Tonawanda, N.Y.

AISI Names Winner of its Highest Honor

AK Steel Employees Set World Casting Record

06 May 2010 - AK Steel employees at Middletown have set a world record for consecutive heats of carbon steel continuously cast on either a single- or double-strand caster.  Crews cast 474,131 tons of carbon steel slabs in 2156 consecutive heats over a 59-day sequence.

04 May 2010 - AK Steel announces increases of 6 to 9% on base prices for all 200, 300 and 400 series flat rolled stainless steel products, while Carpenter announces an average 5% increase in base prices for all specialty stainless, high temperature and electronic alloys in all product forms.

EPA Requires Improvements at Tonawanda Coke

30 April 2010 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ordered the Tonawanda Coke Corp. (TCC) to find and fix deficiencies in its operation of the coke manufacturing facility in Tonawanda, N.Y. EPA is also requiring TCC to explain two incidents that took place at the facility in 2009 and 2010, apparently due to power and equipment failures.
