Steel of West Virginia Tapped for Milestone Shipbuilding Project
06/07/2021 - Steel of West Virginia will supply 1,600 tons of a specialty bar product to what will be the first U.S.-flagged vessel designed to install offshore wind turbines.
According to The (Morgantown, W.Va.,) Dominion Post, Steel of West Virginia will make bulb flats for the 472-foot, US$500 million Charybdis, a vessel being built by a Dominion Energy-led consortium.
Bulb flats are used as plate stiffeners. Steel of West Virginia began producing them in 2014.
