Steel Shipments Up Slightly in December 2013
02/11/2014 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of December 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,632,629 tons, a 0.4% increase from the 7,604,428 tons shipped in the previous month, November 2013.
This was a 2.0% increase from the 7,483,120 tons shipped in December 2012. Full-year shipments 2013 are 95,423,417 tons, a 0.5% decrease vs. full-year 2012 shipments of 95,948,663 tons.
A comparison of December shipments to the previous month of November shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, up 9%, cold rolled sheet, up 1% and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 4%.
