Stomana Turns to Danieli for New Rolling Mill Equipment

The companies said the project will include new upstream equipment to feed a Danieli K-Spool line relocated from the Sovel micro-mill in Greece and replacement of the existing abrasive disk saw. This will allow for production of compact rebars-on-coil with weights up to 3.6 metric tons and diameters from 8 to 20 mm. The new saw will be used for cutting special bar quality rounds from 20 to 130 mm diameter and lengths from 5 to 12.1 m.

The scope of supply from Danieli includes two preboxes, pinch rolls, a crop/chopping shear, an 8-pass finishing block with ring manipulator and six waterboxes with valve benches, lubrication and hydraulic systems.

Other features will include a new abrasive disk saw with a 1.6-m-diameter disk, entry and exit roller tables, a short-bar collection system, and a wheeled stop-on-beam, together with complete electrical and automation systems, engineering, training, advisory services and delivery.

The companies said a new automation system will also be supplied to integrate with the existing mill infrastructure.
