Superior Machine to Upgrade Gallatin Steel's C Furnace
07/31/2013 - Superior Machine Co. of S.C., Inc. has been awarded a contract to supply and install the equipment to upgrade the C furnace at Gallatin Steel Co. in Ghent, Ky.
Superior will upgrade the DC-powered EAF with a new tilt platform, rocker bases, lower shell, taphole slide gate, turn coil support, gantry structure, roof lift arms and lift mechanisms, anode cooling duct, and water-cooled roof system.
Superior’s Site Service Division will reassemble the delivered equipment on site, disassemble the existing C furnace and install the new and reclaimed equipment to complete the upgrade.
Project installation is scheduled for September 2014.
